How to make your own personalised bag!

In this blog post, we are going to show you how to make your own bag! Ideal for a special gift for Christmas!

To make the bag, you will need: canvas tote bag / transfer paper (light paper) / scissors / iron / computer / printer

1. Get the image to be printed on the computer, and your transfer paper ready. Ensure the paper goes into the printer square side up. (Although this could vary depending on your printer...might be worth doing a test sheet first to make sure!) Also, when printing your image, make sure it is printed in reverse.

2. Turn your iron to the highest setting, and without the steam setting. Robot supervision is optional.

3. Get your tote bag and iron to ensure there are no creases. (Yes...that is a chopping board....I don't own a real ironing board *cringe*)

4. Cut out the image from your printed transfer paper, being careful not to touch the image with your fingers.

5. Place the cut-outs face down onto your bag. Position as required.

6. When your iron is very hot, place it on top of the transfer paper and gently rub over for about ten seconds. You will start to smell the paper getting hot, but the paper should not discolour or burn.

7. When the paper is cooled for a few seconds, start to peel back very slightly from the edge. If the image has not transferred or looks sticky, put the transfer paper back, and repeat the ironing process.

8. If the image looks good underneath, carefully peel away the rest of the transfer paper.

9. Ta Da! Your bag is complete!

Let me know if you have a go! We would love to see your bags! If you can't be bothered to make your own bag, our personalised bags will be available to buy from our online shop at www.flossyandjim.com from 06th October 2014! X
